Young Talent and Faux Fur Designs

22 Jun

There are fashion shows . . . then there are fashion shows by passionate, fresh young talent like those in a faux fur design competition we proudly sponsor.

With great anticipation my husband and I went to Chicago a few weeks ago to experience first-hand, the annual fashion extravaganza staged by IADT (International Academy of Design & Technology).  Attracting international attention, this fashion show has special meaning to Fabulous-Furs, in that, for the past six years we’ve sponsored a faux fur design competition. Believing that tomorrow’s designers are critical to the faux fur revolution, each year we provide $4,000-$5,000 worth of faux fur fabrics plus a $500 scholarship to the winning designer.

In conjunction with HSUS (Humane Society of the United States), students are challenged to design highly-creative, cruelty-free fashions.   Entries are shipped to our headquarters for judging and, just when we think we’ve seen it all, a new generation of wild imaginings arrive each year, proving us sooo wrong.  Wild and crazy doesn’t begin to describe an overcoat with deadbolt closures or a multi-tier fur coat with ruffles . . . see for yourself from a VIP seat.  Congratulations to IADT’s faculty and students for a memorable show and to HSUS for their positive approach to cruelty-free fashion.
